Thomas Munz is an independent arts professional, events manager and editor based in Berlin. <\/span><\/span>Previous<\/span><\/span> po<\/span><\/span>sitions include <\/span><\/span>Senior Curator at Rotterdam’s V2_ Institute for the Unstable Media<\/a>, Program Curator and Editor of Transmediale<\/a>, the international festival for art and digital culture in Berlin, Assistant Professor at the Institute for Contemporary Art<\/a> at Graz University of Technology (Austria), Lecturer at Leuphana University<\/a> L\u00fcneburg, as well as Co-Director and Publications Editor of the Werkleitz Arts Centre’s Werkleitz Biennale<\/a>, for which he also served as founding board member. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has curated and organised exhibitions and other events<\/a> for institutions such as the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (House of World Cultures, HKW) and the Akademie der K\u00fcnste (Academy of Arts) in Berlin as\u00a0 well as arts and moving image<\/a> programs for numerous festivals, galleries, museums and other venues worldwide. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his editorial<\/a> work he is interested in thematic explorations in regard to current artistic practice and art-based research, such as the hybrid catalogue books Deep North<\/a> (Revolver Publishing, Berlin) on artistic approaches to climate change and politics, Smile Machines<\/a> (Art Academy, Berlin) on speculative strategies of humour in interrelation to art and technology, or Trust<\/a> (Kehrer Verlag, Heidelberg) on notions of both confidence as well as suspicion towards machine based systems and media. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has studied visual arts at the Bandung Institute of Technology<\/a> (Indonesia) and at the Braunschweig University of Art<\/a> (Germany) from which he has received his Diploma in Fine Arts.
