Originally, however, this meant the publication of information, the step into the public arena. In the digital era, progressive media practice and the commercialisation of public space are becoming more pervasive. The mass media are multiplying their channels and are homogenising their contents. Im digitalen Zeitalter durchdringen sich aufkl\u00e4rerische Medienpraxis und Kommerzialisierung des \u00f6ffentlichen Raums. Die Massenmedien vervielf\u00e4ltigen ihre Kan\u00e4le und vereinheitlichen ihre Inhalte. Demokratische Online-Foren, die kreative Entwicklung neuer Technologien und die Ausweitung des \u00f6ffentlichen \u00dcberwachungsapparats durch Video- und Daten\u00fcberwachung entwerfen eine globale Infosph\u00e4re mit neuen Grenzen und neuen Handlungsspielr\u00e4umen. <em>go public!<\/em> war damit eine Aufforderung an K\u00fcnstler und Besucher der transmediale.02, \u00d6ffentlichkeit zu schaffen, an die \u00d6ffentlichkeit zu gehen und neue kreative Ideen f\u00fcr die Gestaltung und Nutzung des \u00f6ffentlichen Raums im digitalen Zeitalter zu entwickeln. Die Ausstellung beherbergte interaktive, teils internetbasierende Arbeiten, die durch die international besetzte Konferenz erg\u00e4nzt wurde.
