Seminar: Artistic Practice I (students final presentation)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Institute for Contemporary Art (IZK) is part of the Architecture Faculty of the Graz University of Technology (TU). Founded in 1975, it has a rich history of art education positioned at the intersection of technological innovation, spatial practice and contemporary art. The Institute promotes critical thinking and new forms of artistic and intellectual engagement at the intersections of art, science and society. Nurturing trans-disciplinary art-based research and generating investigatory and long-term projects are equally important as the academic programs. IZK students are encouraged to reflect conditions, media and instruments of contemporary art while engaging with the complexities of contemporary spatial politics and its relation to society at large.<\/span><\/p>\n

Das Institut f\u00fcr Zeitgen\u00f6ssische Kunst (IZK) ist Teil der Fakult\u00e4t f\u00fcr Architektur der Technischen Universit\u00e4t (TU) Graz. Das im Jahr 1975 gegr\u00fcndete Institut besitzt eine umfangreiche Geschichte k\u00fcnstlerischer Ausbildung mit Schwerpunkt an den Schnittstellen von technologischer Innovation, raumbezogener Praxis und zeitgen\u00f6ssischer Kunst. Das Institut bef\u00f6rdert kritisches Denken und neue Formen intellektueller Auseinandersetzung zwischen Kunst, Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft. Die F\u00f6rderung von transdisziplin\u00e4r orientierter kunstbasierter Forschung und die Entwicklung investigativer und langfristig angelegter Projekte sind dabei ein ebenso zentrales Anliegen wie die die einzelnen Schwerpunktbereiche im Lehrprogramm insgesamt. Die Studierenden werden dazu angehalten, die Bedingungen, Medien und Instrumente zeitgen\u00f6ssischer Kunst zu reflektieren und sich gleichzeitig mit der Vielschichtigkeit aktueller Raumpolitik und ihren gesellschaftlichen Beziehungen auseinandersetzen.<\/span><\/p>\n
